Your posture is the first thing people notice about you. Chiroprators can tell a lot about what is going on in your body by the way you carry yourself.

It is said that 75% of our initial impression of someone is based on their posture alone. But what is your posture really saying about you?

In order to sustain good posture – referred to as neutral posture - the muscles of the body must be in balance to support an aligned spine.

Neutral spine, does not equate to a flat spine, as there are many natural curvatures to the vertebral column.

The neck, known as the cervical spine, has a natural anterior curve or lordosis which is necessary to balance the cranium.

At Chiropractic Clinic Duvernay we use a proven device, the POSTUROMETER (S.A.M. -  Spinal Analysis Machine)

A plate with two weighing scales that measure the difference in weight distribution between the left and right half of the body.

With the frame , strings and measures on the framework we will measure your postural distortions.

Forward, ears, shoulders and hips should be equal.

Side, ear, shoulder, hip and ankle should be in alignment.

During the postural assessment, we notice postural distortions such as:

• Head tilt to one side

• Forward head carriage

• Lowered shoulder

• High or rotated hip

• Unnatural stride

• Contracted leg length

• Unusual shoe wear

• Weight imbalance

Poor posture is a contributing factor to many symptoms and diseases. The most notable consequence is pain and discomfort, but it is also a factor in degenerative and chronic diseases.

We know the importance of posture and the measures that can be taken to give people new options to improve their quality of life and vitality.

Through our comprehensive postural assessment we can determine what steps you can take to improve your health and longevity.

We want you to live a long, happy and healthy life and will do what we can to work with you to achieve this goal.
